Jacob Shwergold
Advocate Jacob Shwergold is a Partner in our Firm’s Corporate & Commercial Department. Prior to joining our Firm, he practiced law in two of Israel’s largest law firms and led the corporate and commercial law practice of a boutique firm he co-founded.
Jacob has extensive experience advising local and international clients on all aspects of business law, particularly with respect to international ventures and transactions.
His practice encompasses a broad range of clients, from startups through SMBs to large enterprises, from a wide spectrum of sectors, such as: finance, energy, e-commerce, gaming, fintech, cyber, AI, medical-cannabis, real-estate, investments, government contracting, security, and more.
Jacob provides his clients with ongoing and hands-on legal counsel on day-to-day business operations, commercial transactions, and corporate governance. Working closely with entrepreneurs, company executives and boards, he plays a key role in supporting clients in entering, navigating, complying with, and adapting to, innovative industries, new markets, and fast evolving business & regulatory landscapes.
International in background and outlook, Jacob offers unique expertise in representing clients with respect to strategic and sensitive international negotiations and transactions. He is a bilingual native-speaker of English & Hebrew, holds law degrees (with honors) from leading Israeli & U.S. universities, and has been admitted to practice law in both Israel and New York. Over the course of nearly 20 years of practicing corporate & commercial law, Jacob has successfully led and managed complex cross-border negotiations and transactions of various types, including: mergers and acquisitions, joint-ventures, procurement, government projects, investment, financing, defense-export, manufacturing, distribution, and supply of goods & services.
Jacob earned his LL.M. from Washington University in St. Louis, where he was the recipient of the prestigious McDonnell International Scholarship, as well as three Academic Excellence Awards, and served as a researcher for the International Criminal Court. He earned his LL.B. and B.A. in Government (both cum laude) from Reichman University in Herzliya, where he was a member of the Law School’s Law Review, served as vice-chairperson of the Student Union, and was the 2004 European Debating Champion.
